People complained, a lot, when Adobe moved from a traditional “purchase” model to a “rent” slash “cloud” mode. People weren’t ready for the new mode of software ownership.
I didn’t like it either! However, I understood that software vendors needed to get to a more predictable financial model so I signed up for the unlimited Adobe Creative Cloud.
Fast forward two or so years and I can say I’m happy that Adobe moved to this software sales model. I feel that Adobe is actively adding great features to the product line-up and as a creative person I’m getting the value for my money.
For example, just the updates to Premiere Pro in the June release are pretty amazing. Yea, you might now use all the features, but the cool thing is that YOU CAN use them because they are there and you have access to the features.
